Transform Your Space with Premium Self Levelling Epoxy Resin Flooring – 10+ Year Durable Finish in West Bromwich
self levelling epoxy resin floor. Industrial Flooring Contractors Ltd recently prepared and installed a high-performance resin floor in a large West Bromwich commercial premises, which is being converted into a supermarket. The result is a smooth, durable, and visually striking surface, designed for heavy footfall and long-term use once the store opens.
Before: Uneven Concrete Floor and Pre-Supermarket Preparation
Areas with manholes and uneven flooring highlighted before the installation of a self levelling epoxy resin system.
The space originally had uneven, unfinished concrete flooring. Recessed manholes and low spots were clearly visible. These required correction to establish a stable, safe, and functional foundation for the new supermarket floor.
Our team carefully surveyed the site and marked all recessed areas. Channels were cut to accommodate electrical works using a Kango drill, while manholes were levelled to sit flush with the finished surface. Addressing these features before surface preparation ensures the resin system will be perfectly integrated and fully functional for high-traffic use.
Step-by-Step Self Levelling Epoxy Resin Installation
1. Channel & Manhole Preparation
Channels for electrical installations were carefully cut and measured. This step prevents future unevenness and ensures a smooth integration of services into the resin floor.
2. Surface Preparation
All weak or contaminated material was removed, recessed manholes were adjusted to sit flush with the surrounding floor, and the concrete was diamond ground to create a smooth, sound substrate. Any remaining irregularities were filled and levelled to ensure the floor was perfectly flat for the resin application.
3. Damp-Proof Primer Application
A high-performance damp-proof membrane (DPM) primer was applied to control moisture and improve adhesion. The primer was allowed to fully cure before any resin application.
4. Self Levelling Epoxy Resin with Decorative Flake and UV-Stable Top Coat
A two-millimetre layer of high-build self levelling epoxy resin was poured and expertly applied using spike rollers over the primed surface, including all channels and manholes. Coloured decorative flakes were hand-scattered into the final resin coat to enhance slip resistance and provide a visually striking finish. Once the flakes were integrated, a UV-stable top coat and final gloss seal were applied, locking in the flakes, improving chemical resistance, and creating a hygienic, easy-to-clean satin surface suitable for heavy foot traffic.
After: Seamless, Durable, and Hygienic Supermarket Flooring
The completed self levelling epoxy resin floor is smooth, resilient, and visually impressive. Thanks to careful preparation of channels, manholes, and surface levelling, the floor is completely seamless and safe, ready for a high-traffic supermarket environment.
The decorative flake finish not only improves aesthetics but also enhances slip resistance and long-term durability, making it ideal for pre-opening commercial operations.
Maintaining a Self Levelling Epoxy Resin Floor
During the fit-out and pre-opening phase, light cleaning will protect the surface before full footfall. Once the supermarket opens, recommended maintenance includes:
- Daily sweeping to remove dust and debris
- Regular mopping with warm water and a pH-neutral detergent
- Annual inspections for minor wear and early repair
